ANNA WILSON, PMHNP

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Anna Wilson is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) providing diagnostic assessments, medication management, and supportive therapy for children, adolescents, and adults.

Anna grew up in Portland, Oregon, then moved to Nashville to attend Vanderbilt University. Anna knew early on she wanted a career in nursing and soon became interested in psychological sciences as well. At Vanderbilt, she graduated with High Honors in Psychology and a minor in interdisciplinary Medicine, Health, and Society. Valuing person-centered, holistic healthcare models, and finding that in the PMHNP role, she graduated from Vanderbilt’s PMHNP program in 2015.

Anna’s early training included teaching in an outpatient parenting skills program for young children as well as research into connections between disordered eating, coping styles, and perfectionistic tendencies in college students. She began her career at Mental Health Cooperative, a community mental health agency, first in Murfreesboro and later in Nashville, serving low-income and uninsured clients and families. She enjoyed working collaboratively with case managers and therapists to provide greater support to clients with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, PTSD, schizophrenia, and substance use disorders.

After more than five years of working for MHC, she joined Nashville Child and Family Wellness Center in May 2021 so she could have more opportunities to work with clients across the life span.

Anna believes the provider-client relationship is one of the core elements of quality psychiatric care and strives to develop trust and understanding with her clients. This philosophy integrates well with her goals to instill hope, maintain respect, and promote resilience when working with clients to develop an evidence-based treatment plan.
