NCFWC offers support, psychoeducation, and therapeutic groups for children, adolescents, and adults.
Groups are a powerful, affordable way to acquire support, therapy, and skills for many issues. We offer numerous groups, led by experienced, licensed professionals, under the categories listed below. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all of our groups have been suspended except for our DBT Skills Groups which are being held in a virtual format. .

CHILD, ADOLESCENT, AND FAMILY GROUPS
We offer a variety of groups to teach coping skills to children and adolescents. Some of these groups are open to any child in the group’s designated age range and others are for children coping with specific diagnoses, such as anxiety, depression, ADHD and emotional dysregulation. Each group’s curriculum draws from evidence-based programs to meet its goals. All are led by experienced therapists.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our in-person groups have been suspended.
Our DBT Skills Groups continue to meet in a virtual format.
DBT SKILLS GROUP
DBT For Adolescents (DBT-A)
We offer DBT Skills Groups for Adolescents in a multi-family group format. The DBT Skills Group aims to increase client capabilities by teaching techniques and reviewing assigned practice homework to reinforce learning. At NCFWC, we offer DBT Skills Groups for those enrolled in Comprehensive DBT (DBT Group - Comprehensive) as well as a DBT Skills Groups for those wanting to learn the techniques as part of another type of treatment plan, typically for less severe difficulties (DBT Group - Skills Only).
DBT-A Skills Groups rotate through three eight-week modules with new participants able to start at the beginning of each module. Teens are required to attend with at least one parent. Group size is limited to 6 teens/families.
Module length and cost:
Emotion Regulation - 8 weeks - $1,000 per family
Distress Tolerance - 8 weeks - $1,000 per family
Interpersonal Effectiveness - 8 weeks - $1,000 per family
Mindfulness and Walking the Middle Path Skills are taught throughout all four modules.

ELEMENTARY COPING SKILLS GROUP
Building a Stress Management Toolkit for Children Ages 7-10 (2nd -5th grades)
This group is designed for elementary-aged children facing academic, social, and/or emotional stressors who want to learn evidence-based strategies that will enable them to feel better and reach their goals. One parent-only session is included to educate parents on skills taught and provide parenting support. Curriculum is built on cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapy.
Learn how to express and regulate emotions with healthier coping skills.
Understand thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and how they are connected.
Learn and practice social skills for developing and maintaining friendships.
Understand and challenge negative or unhelpful thoughts.
Connect with other children who have similar stressors

Enrollment process:
To apply for this group, please complete our online Group Interest Form and a group coordinator will follow-up with you. An interview may be required for those not being seen by a provider at NCFWC to ensure that the group is a good fit and to allow the child to meet us. Additional fees may apply for the interview.
Cost:
$585 for eight child sessions and one parent session (averages to $65 per session) to be paid in full at 1st session.
A $50 non-refundable deposit is required upon acceptance to hold your child's place in group. The deposit will be applied to the balance due before the first session.
MIDDLE SCHOOL COPING SKILLS GROUP
Building a Stress Management Toolkit
This semester-long group is designed for middle school children (Ages 11-14 or 6th-8th grade) facing academic, social, and/or emotional stressors who want to learn evidence-based strategies that will enable them to feel better and reach their goals and who want the opportunity to connect with a peer group. One parent-only session is included to educate parents on skills taught and provide parenting support. Curriculum is built on cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavioral therapy principles to help middle schoolers with a mild to moderate severity of issues and some to no experience with therapy. Group goals include:
Understand thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and how they are connected.
Learn proven strategies to regulate mood and reduce vulnerability to anxiety and depression.
Handle distressing thoughts and feelings without acting out towards self or others.
Learn and practice social skills for developing and maintaining friendships.
Get to know kids who have similar stressors.

PARENT AND ADULT GROUPS
We offer groups to provide parents and adults with skills to match their current pathway. Parent groups provide skills and support. Adult groups are formed to target specific struggles in areas such as disordered eating, depression, anxiety, and OCD.
DBT SKILLS GROUP
DBT For Adults (18+)
Wednesday's 4:30pm-6:00pm
We offer a DBT Skills Groups for Adults (ages 18, and/or having completed high school, and up. The DBT Skills Group aims to increase client capabilities by teaching techniques and reviewing assigned practice homework to reinforce learning. Participants in Comprehensive DBT or those wanting to learn DBT Skills as part of another type of treatment plan are eligible to participate so long as they commit to continuing individual therapy while enrolled.
This group follows the evidence-based DBT Skills Manual for Adults protocol, rotating through all three modules with dialectics and mindfulness "orientation" being covered a the beginning of each. Group size is limited to approximately 6-10 participants.
Module length and cost:
Emotion Regulation - 8 weeks - $800 per individual
Distress Tolerance - 8 weeks - $800 per individual
Interpersonal Effectiveness - 8 weeks - $800 per individual
*Mindfulness is taught throughout all three of the above modules.
