Lauren Beem, LMSW is dedicated to delivering evidence-based therapy to children, adolescents, adults and families and brings a natural gift of kindness, compassion, and understanding to her work. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Princeton University and then her Master of Science in Social Work at Columbia University.

Lauren is a Nashville native but has extensive international research and clinical experience. She has worked in various research labs in the United States and abroad to develop evidence-based interventions for families experiencing stress. Lauren has worked in the Vanderbilt University Psychology and Human Development Department Stress and Coping Lab, University of Queensland Triple P Program Parenting and Family Support Centre (Brisbane Australia), The University of New South Wales Parent and Child Research Clinic (Sydney, Australia), and the VA New York Harbour Healthcare System. Lauren has additional clinical experience in the school system, having worked in school-based settings in London, UK; Sydney, Australia; and Palo Alto, CA. She has additional experience working with health, illness and loss, having worked with the oncology teams at New York Presbyterian Hospital and Memorial-Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. 

Lauren is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and has received training in the Gottman Method Couples Training (Level 1). She is also certified in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), which is an evidence-based treatment for young children, ages 2 to 7 years-old, with emotional and behavioral problems that places emphasis on improving the quality of the parent-child relationship and changing parent-child interaction patterns. At NCFWC, Lauren will largely focus on providing PCIT for younger and older children, CBT for mood and anxiety disorders in ages 10 to adult, parent-training, and co-leading DBT groups.
