SAMANTHA HAMBY RD, LDN, CEDS
Registered and licensed dietician/nutritionist;
Certified Eating Disorder Registered Dietician
Samantha Hamby is a registered & licensed dietitian/nutritionist who brings a wide array of experience to Nashville Child & Family Wellness Center. She started her journey at Michigan State University and completed her undergraduate work in dietetics before moving to Nashville in 2010 and completing her dietetic internship through University of Tennessee Martin.
Samantha has spent over a decade working in the behavioral health field, guiding others towards making peace with food. She has formerly worked at residential, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient levels of care, providing nutrition counseling to children, adolescents, adults and their families struggling with disordered eating, eating disorders and other co-occurring disorders. Additionally, she has spent time helping clients and families expand their food variety and achieve a more balanced plate. Samantha utilizes a blend of Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention and CBT in treatment. She believes in a non-diet and weight neutral approach. Each person is unique in their genetics, lifestyle and food preferences; therefore, their treatment should be equally individualized. She enjoys empowering others to strengthen their relationship with their body through normalized feeding. Samantha invites her clients to explore this process with curiosity and encourages self-discovery from a non-judgmental stance. When not in the office, you can find her outdoors working in the garden or tending to her chickens with her husband and daughter.
